Course Overview

The Communication, Electronic Media/Broadcasting (BS) major at Appalachian State University teaches you more than learning how to read a Teleprompter. You will learn the tools needed for career success in any aspect of broadcasting. Classes give a well-rounded knowledge of the field, from sales programming to writing for commercials or news. Internships and on-campus media opportunities will give even greater technical expertise. In the new Beasley Media Complex, you will work with up-to-date facilities including 20 audio and video editing suits and modern TV studios. You will learn to edit video using Final Cut Pro, edit audio with Avid Media Composer, and get experience as camera operators and audio and technical directors. Academic Entry Requirement

Academic Requirements The Electronic Media Broadcasting degree has a resource -based admission policy and accepts students each semester based on GPA. In order to apply, a student must satisfactorily complete COM 1200 and must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be considered.
