HR is an area of continual change and is always responding to the business environment. HR is increasingly central to the success of Australian organisations both large and small.There are a diverse range of functional areas that fall under the HRM banner, including: workforce planning and recruitment, occupational health and safety/risk management, selection and induction, performance management, training and development, remuneration and benefits, equal employment opportunity, HR information systems (HRIS), IR, organisational change and international HRM. The direct method to enter HRM is to undertake a specialised HR or business degree with a major in HR or IR, and from there, work experience in a base-level HR position. Junior positions may involve activities such as payroll administration and working with HRIS. Many HR positions are created by growth in an organisation and by the realisation that there is a need to look after the people . In small to medium-sized organisations there is a tendency to appoint someone already employed within the organisation with a good understanding of the business to undertake HR activities, rather than recruit a specialist from outside the business.

Course Overview

The Liberal Studies major at Concordia University Irvine is the Elementary Subject Matter Preparation Program approved by the state of California for students preparing to be elementary or multiple subject teachers. An elementary teacher teaches in a self-contained classroom and teaches all the subjects. To be an elementary teacher you must have a broad foundation of academic content. An elementary teacher must be a well-educated person that has both breadth and depth in the subject areas. The best major for you is the Liberal Studies major. I want to find another Bachelor Course Federal legislation, No Child Left Behind, requires all elementary teachers to be highly qualified. This requires the passage of a rigorous subject matter examination to verify your mastery of the subject matter. In California, this examination is called the CSET. Concordia's Liberal Studies major is aligned to the broad subject matter competencies of this examination. This is another reason we recommend the Liberal Studies Major for students with the goal of becoming an elementary teacher.
