Course Overview

Within the University's liberal arts curriculum, the baccalaureate program provides advanced knowledge and practice in both general university courses and dental hygiene theory and research methodology. It prepares the dental hygienist to assume roles in many different health care environments, such as general and specialty practices, public schools, community health clinics, insurance companies, dental hygiene educational programs, extended care facilities, and in the health products industry.

Academic Entry Requirement

Academic Requirements Students must complete 37 credits before admission to the program. Freshmen are usually admitted to pre-major status before admission to this major. All prerequisite courses must be taken A-F. Biology and chemistry must be taken within five years of entry into the program and one or the other must be completed prior to application so grades are on the transcript submitted at the time of application. In addition, applicants are strongly encouraged to have completed composition and psychology and/or sociology prior to application so grades are on the transcript submitted at the time of application.
