The certificate in budgeting and public finance provides course work in the theoretical and practical foundations of public budgeting and in the formulation and evaluation of public budgets, as well as the complex choices of economic reasoning in response to resource allocation in the process of formulating and implementing public budgets.
Having completed an accounting or finance related degree you would provide services relating to financial reporting, taxation, auditing, insolvency, accounting information systems, budgeting, cost management, planning and decision-making by organisations and individuals; and provide advice on associated compliance and performance requirements to ensure statutory and strategic governance. You can work as an Accountant (General),Management or Cost Accountant,Taxation Accountant, Agent or Consultant, finance specialist and Auditor.
The courses in the certificate provide a background in budget policy and process, characteristics of public revenue and expenditure, and governmental accounting and financial reporting. This certificate is particularly suited for those who are, or envision becoming, budget analysts or financial management officers in public agencies at any level of government. Certificate students enroll in regular courses of the Trachtenberg School and earn graduate credit. Regular graduate tuition and fees apply. The $75 non-refundable application fee must be paid in U.S. dollars, by credit card (online only), international money order or check. Your name must be written on the check or money order. Include a photocopy of the biographic/identification page of your passport with your application.
