Course Overview

The Bachelor of Science Nursing curriculum at California State University San Marcos is built on a self-care model. This model assumes that persons are usually capable of providing their own needs related to health. Sometimes persons cannot take care of themselves because of injury, disease, or insufficient health-related knowledge. Nursing care helps such people recover their self-care abilities through health promotion, health mainte nance and health restoration. The nursing program at CSUSM places strong emphasis on delivering skillful, culturally sensitive nursing care. Each student will be proficient in a language-other-than-English and be aware of culturally driven health care practices. Students will be able to provide nursing care to diverse individuals and communi ties. Students take advantage of clinical experiences in a variety of acute care and community settings, and are able to provide nursing case management interventions for a variety of vulnerable populations. Academic Entry Requirement

Academic Requirements You need the following GPA score: Required score: 3 Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale). Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F). Submit an application and $55.00 application fee to Cal State San Marcos via CSUMentor between October 1 to November 30. You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been submitted. Submit official ACT or SAT test scores to Cal State San Marcos before the end of January.
